I'm also not a fan of two line posts. I save those for twitter. However, since there is a shortage of news to report on, below are a couple of tidbits that might be of interest:
Calgary native and former Red Sox first round draft pick, Chris Reitsma, has agreed to a position with the Pro Baseball Force (PBF) Redbirds coaching staff as the organizational pitching coach. PBF is one of the top baseball academies in the Province, and I'm sure they are excited about this addition.
Keaton Briscoe, who was drafted by the Red Sox this year has signed and is playing Rookie ball for their Gulf Coast League affiliate in Fort Myers. The BC native is a left handed hitting second baseman / outfielder who was taken in the 24th round in the June draft.
Former Red Sox pitching prospect, Jason Blackey, who played in the minors with several Red Sox including Will Middlebroks, Ryan Lavarnaway and Ryan Kalish, and pitched on the same staffs as John Smoltz and Felix Doubrount has been named as pitching coach for the University of Calgary Dinos baseball team.
And finally, there will be a Red Sox Nation watch party on Saturday September 8th at Melrose. These are always a lot of fun regardless of the outcome, so come on out and enjoy watching a game with some fellow baseball fans.
Until then, if you're bored, go read a baseball book, play a baseball game, or learn to improve your game. Buying from the links provided gives me a few nickels which help offset the cost of running my blogs. Gracias.
